The Coos County Mounted Sheriff's Posse (CCMSP) is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that works with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office to serve the people of Coos County. The Posse assists the Sheriff’s Office in the preservation of law and order, promotes good horsemanship, and fosters fellowship and sportsmanship. Posse members assist the Sheriff’s Office with community events and emergency operations, they enjoy monthly trail rides, compete in rodeo-style games, assist in search and rescue callouts, and enjoy being with other posse members. The posse gives back to the community with local high school scholarships, supports local 4-H groups, and provides Christmas baskets for needy families.

Coos County Mounted Sheriff's Posse is a member of the Oregon Association of Mounted Posses and participates in OAMP events and competitions, including pistol shooting, Shodeo, and trail rides. Coos County Mounted Sheriff's Posse was formed and chartered in September 1956 and currently has an arena and building in Hauser on land donated by George Riley in 1969.
