All dogs living in the state of Oregon are required to be vaccinated against rabies. All dogs living in Coos County are required to be licensed at 6 months of age (or when permanent canines appear), or with 30 days of becoming a resident. Licenses are issued by the Coos County Animal Shelter and its licensing agents.
New Dog Licenses
Step 1: Mail Dog License Application
Mail the following information to the Coos County Clerks Office:
- Certificate of Rabies Vaccination from a licensed veterinarian.
- Proof of Spay or Neuter from a licensed veterinarian.
- Your name, address and phone number.
- Pay the appropriate fee (outlined below)

Step 2: Issuing License
We will mail your dog license and all certificates back to you.
Renewal Dog Licenses
Step 1: Mail Renewal Card
Mail the following information to the Coos County Clerks Office:
- Certificate of Rabies Vaccination from a licensed veterinarian (only if rabies is expired and it is highlighted on the reminder card).
- Proof of Spay or Neuter from a licensed veterinarian (only if you have recently altered your dog and it does not show on the reminder card).
- Pay the appropriate fee on the reminder card

Step 2: Issuing License
We will mail your dog license and all certificates back to you.
Additional Information
Fees:
- $10.00 per year if the dog has been spayed or neutered.
- $45.00 per year if the dog has not been spayed or neutered.
- $150.00 per year; kennel license / animal rescue entity (see additional requirements)
The license is valid for one year OR until the rabies expires, whichever occurs FIRST.
Licenses may also be purchased through several vendors throughout the county. The license will be processed and mailed by the Clerk's office, once documentation has been received from the vendor. Venders are allowed to charge an additional $2.00 processing fee.
