County Counsel advises the Coos County Board of Commissioners and other County officials regarding their duties and responsibilities as established in statutes and laws. The Office of Legal Counsel performs a number of legal duties on behalf of Coos County, including drafting orders and ordinances, drafting County Code and County Rule revisions, advising on land use matters, public contracting, and handling real estate transactions. Additionally, Counsel staff prepare and review all contracts between the County and other public agencies or private parties, and manage contracted legal work performed by outside counsel on behalf of the County. A representative from the County Counsel Office attends all regular meetings of the Board of Commissioners and other boards as requested.
