Criminal Division

The Criminal Division handles all of the criminal cases referred to this office. In addition, the Criminal Division handles other cases such as juvenile dependency matters, forfeitures and involuntary mental commitment hearings.

Currently 6 attorneys are assigned to the Criminal Division. Those attorneys are:

Jody Newby:   Jody began working in Coos County in September of 2015 and is the Chief Deputy District Attorney.  Prior to coming to Coos County, Jody worked as a prosecutor in Cowlitz County, Washington for almost six years.  She obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Willamette University in 2001, and her Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Seattle University School of Law in 2008. Jody handles felony cases, SCINT cases and is assigned to the Coos County Crash Team.

Karen McClintock: Karen started her career in Coos County in 1995. She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Willamette University College of Law in 1995. Karen handles juvenile cases, adult cases with juvenile co-defendants, child support and elder abuse cases.

John Blanc:

John started his career with Coos County in November of 2015. John earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Washington University in 2002 and his Master of Arts Degree from Pacific University in 2005.  He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from University of Oregon School of Law in 2015.  John is currently assigned to handle Felony cases.

Julia Day:

Julia began working in Coos County in June of 2018. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oregon State University in 2014. In 2017, she earned her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Washington Law School. Julia is currently working out of Coos County Community Corrections on the Parole and Probation Caseload. She also handles Mental Health Court and Civil Commitments.

Hannah Bollin: Hannah started her career with Coos County in August of 2018. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Pacific Union College in 2014, and her Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from University of Oregon School of Law in 2018. Hannah is currently assigned to handle misdemeanor and lower level felony cases.
