SB1145 Release Counselor
Per Senate Bill 1145, all convicted
felons who are sentenced to 12 month or less of
incarceration, as of January 1, 1997, will be housed in local
county jails. Senate Bill 1145 offenders in Coos County are
being housed in the Coos County Jail located in Coquille,
Oregon.
The SB1145 Release Counselor works
with the SB1145 offenders during and immediately following
their incarceration. While in custody the counselor assists
in SB1145 offender programming, monitoring of behavior, and
the preparation of the offenders' release plans. Upon release
the counselor continues to work with the offender during
their initial transition phase from custody to community
supervision.
It is the hope of Coos County Community Corrections that the SB1145 program will assist the offenders in successful reformation and will result in reduced criminal recidivism.
