Shaelan Jaehnig is the seventeen year old daughter of Jerry and Denise. She is a junior at North Bend High School, and is actively involved in Track and Field and Oregon High School Equestrian Team. She is an 8 year member of 4-H and a member of Hauser Dune Riders Horse 4-H Club. Shaelan is a member of South Western Oregon Horseman’s Association, South Coast Barrel Racer’s club, and was the 2011 Oregon High School Equestrian Team’s Working Rancher State Champion. After high school Shaelan hopes to attend Linn Benton Community College, with a dual enrollment at Oregon State University, to pursue a degree in Animal Science.
Shaelan has helped the youth in the community by volunteering at various camps, cadet teaching at an elementary school and speaking with children at grades schools throughout the County. She has put together various Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for families in need and has also been a part of various beach and park cleanups. Helping in the community is something that is very important to her. Shaelan and her Quarter Horse Gelding Blue will travel around the state visiting rodeos, parades, town festivals, and schools.
Shaelan started participating and going to the Coos County Fair and Rodeo, at a young age. She is very excited and proud to be representing the great fair and rodeo, Coos County has to offer. Shaelan looks forward to meeting new people throughout the state and county, and hopes to see everyone at the 100th annual Coos County Fair and Rodeo.
