The County Clerk’s office encompasses two divisions: Records & Elections.
RECORDS: The County Clerk is the official record keeper for Coos County. The Records Division administers public records, legal recordings, marriage licenses, passport applications, dog licenses, and some county archives. Various documents are recorded for public record such as deeds, mortgages, military discharges, liens, marriage licenses, partition plat maps, etc. County records include: Board of County Commissioners, County departmental contracts and agreements and special district filings.
The County Clerk issues marriage licenses, accepts applications for passports; coordinates and records Board of Property Tax Appeal hearings; issues Coos County dog licenses and manages the program for the county.
ELECTIONS: The County Clerk is the chief election official of the County. The County Clerk conducts all elections within Coos County and registers voters, insuring compliance with federal, state and local laws. The office verifies compliance on measure filings in accordance with Oregon law. The office prepares and maintains records related to voting activities and candidate services. The clerk provides uniformity in the application, operation and interpretation of election laws and ensures that the public is provided with complete and accurate information.
Office hours are: 8:00 AM – 12:00 noon; 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
